How safe are foreign investments of real estate? What keeps their government or other body from coming in and just taking the property?

I haven’t been to Capo San Lucas, but the description is truly tempting and the pictures are beautiful. I want to check out this heavenly place someday. Own properties there? Well, why not, if there be an opportunity and resources for this.

What Paul says is true. I have lived and worked in Latin America now for 4 years. Many Americans have already tasted life outside the U.S. and love it. I have a real estate company in Medellin, Colombia and have seen hundreds of Americans move here over the last 2 years. Great post!

Cabo San Lucas occasionally gets a bad rap due to spring breakers and some MTV shows, but your description reveals a humbler, permanent beauty. Thanks

Cabo is lovely but I really find the real estate to be over priced. I lived in Panama for a few years and couldn’t believe how beautiful the country was; how friendly the people are; and what a great deal the real estate is! It’s a US dollar currency means no worry of losses due to fluctuations. Plus they have a cool deal with years of tax exemption on many homes. Add in the canal to keep a stable economy and I believe this emerging market is gonna stay hot for quite a while.
