    refinancing isn’t even an options for many homeowners. many unethical lenders also applied steep penalties for refinancing and the cost are incredible. homeowners need to call and negotiate with their banks.

    I’d have to disagree with what you mentioned about going with a reputable larger lender whose been around for a while is the safest bet. You can look up Better Business Bureau reports for a lot of big, established lenders, and they’re trash. I can tell you from personal experience that 2 of the biggest mortgage banks in the country are not what I would consider “ethical.”

    Also, I have to mention that lending tree is a disaster of a website. They say you’ll get 4 calls, but that one application can start a chain reaction of phone calls for a year. Lending tree simply sells your information to various lenders and brokers, who, might I add, don’t much qualification other than a license.
